AEW Dynamite Records Lowest Viewership Number In History For Title Tuesday

The Title Tuesday special of AEW Dynamite on October 8 suffered a steep decline in TV ratings due to multiple factors working against them.

As first reported by PWTorch, the episode on TBS averaged only 329,000 viewers, compared to the 680,000 viewers and 702,000 viewers in the previous two weeks respectively.

The rating for the 18-49 demographic also dealt with the same fate, stopping at only 0.10. This is a huge decline from the previous weeks which recorded 0.20 and 0.23 ratings in the key demo.

This is the lowest rating in both total viewership and key demo Dynamite has ever recorded since the show’s premiere on TNT back on October 2, 2019.

Multiple factors worked against AEW’s flagship show that led to this result including a pre-emption from their usual spot of 8 to 10 PM on Wednesday nights.

The Tuesday night episode was not only broadcasted on an unusual day but the start time was also changed from 8 to 9 PM Eastern due to previously scheduled programming.

The first hour of the show also went up against WWE’s NXT which aired the second part of its CW Premiere episode this week. The episode featured stars from their flagship shows such as Randy Orton, Jey Uso, Bianca Belair, and Jade Cargill.

With much hype around the debut special for WWE’s development brand, the episode averaged 874,000 viewers with 0.24 ratings in the key demo.

Dynamite viewership is expected to rebound as the show returns to its usual timeslot next week, but the continued decline in TV ratings remains a concern for the wrestling promotion.
