AEW star Killswitch, real name Austin Matelson is still dealing with complications from his recent hospitalization and remains at a high risk of relapsing into pneumonia, per the latest reports.
The star formerly known as Luchasaurus was hospitalized on September 27 after his fiancé found him unconscious in his home. A check-up at the time revealed that his Oxygen was below 80 and he had contracted pneumonia in both his lungs.
Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live provided an update on Matelson’s health. He noted that while the 39-year-old is back at home, he’s still on Oxygen support and remains in a high-risk condition:
“Apparently, he’s at high risk for a relapse, is what I was told. The big concern is that after all of this, they’ve been running test after test, and apparently there may be permanent damage. They found calcification in a heart valve and his body is not producing iron.”
The former TNT Champion is not allowed to travel for at least 4 to 6 weeks due to his issues and he has been instructed to see a specialist as soon as he can. With all the health complications, he is not allowed to train at the moment and an in-ring return for the AEW star remains out of sight for now.
Killswitch has been part of AEW since 2019. He has most recently been involved in a storyline with Christian Cage. Cage is leading The Patriarchy faction in AEW and the heavyweight star is one of the founding members of the group.
WrestlingIP sends our best wishes to Austin Matelson for a speedy recovery.
