Shelton Benjamin has come out victorious in his AEW debut match
After making his first appearance for the company a couple of weeks ago, The Gold Standard wrestled his first match for the promotion during the October 16 episode of Dynamite. The former WWE star had MVP in his corner as he went up against Lio Rush.
Benjamin had the upper hand for most of this short match. The ending of the bout saw Shelton hitting a German Release Suplex on Rush. He followed it up with a second German Release Suplex and finally hit a modified power slam on his opponent for the win.
MVP grabbed the mic after the match and put Swerve Strickland on notice. He claimed that Strickland would suffer the same fate as Lio Rush. The Hurt Syndicate manager said that it was time to finish the conversation he started with the former AEW Champion.
MPV and Shelton Benjamin had a confrontation with Swerve during the latter’s return at the WrestleDream PPV this past Saturday. The former US Champion reminded Strickland of his recent losses and offered him a position in the Hurt Syndicate.
When Strickland refused to turn on Prince Nana for doing so, however, MVP warned him about the consequences. The security came running through to stop the two sides from brawling.
The current storyline between the two AEW groups is expected to lead to the debut of Bobby Lashley. Though there is no word on when the former WWE Champion will actually arrive in Tony Khan’s promotion.
