Bryan Danielson is gearing up for a big match at the upcoming AEW ALL IN special from London where he will challenge Swerve Strickland for the World Heavyweight Championship.
The American Dragon has confirmed that the match will be the last of his full-time wrestling schedule and he will be moving to a part-time deal after that.
The former World Champion however has revealed some concerning details about his health prior to the main event match.
Bryan recently sat down with legendary commentator Jim Ross to talk about his future in wrestling. During the discussion he revealed that he might need to get neck surgery before the end of the year:
“I mean, the odds are I’m gonna have to get neck surgery before the end of this year. That’s the reality of it. That’s something that I’ve accepted is coming down the pike relatively soon,”
Danielson’s history of neck and concussion issues make his condition more concerning than the average talent. The former WWE star previously had to retire from active competition due to these issues in 2015 and he stayed out of action for 3 years.
Bryan Danielson was fortunately able to return to the ring after rehabbing his neck. He made his in-ring return at WrestleMania 34 where he teamed with Shane McMahon to take on Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.
The wrestling veteran left WWE to join AEW in 2021. Due to the more reality-based style of wrestling in Tony Khan’s promotion, Danielson seems to have taken more toll on his body than necessary.
