Cody Rhodes is open to sharing the stage with Roman Reigns but he has made it clear that the Undisputed WWE Championship belongs to him.
The Original Tribal Chief is currently feuding with Solo Sikoa and his new Bloodline but the numbers game is proving too much for him. It appears that Roman will need some allies to fight his war and The American Nightmare could be one of them.
Rhodes was part of the Fanatics Fest NYC, and during a live signing, he was asked for his thoughts on Roman Reigns’ WWE return. Cody first put his arch-rival over saying that Roman and The Bloodline are a major reason for the company’s increased popularity:
“WWE and I don’t mean this in a braggadocious way, is currently the most popular it’s ever been. A considerable amount of that has to do with the Bloodline and Roman Reigns.”
Speaking about potential tensions between the two, the current champion claim that he is happy to share the WWE stage with the Head of The Table but not his title:
“There are people that think that forces cannot co-exist on the show. That’s crazy. WWE’s roster is the best that it’s ever been. I am happy and glad to share SmackDown, to share Raw, to share every PLE with Roman Reigns. However, [the Undisputed WWE Championship], belongs to me,”
Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns have previously shared the stage on multiple occasions, though as rivals. Rhodes unsuccessfully challenged Roman for the Undisputed Title in the WrestleMania 39 main event. He finally captured the title by defeating Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 40 this past April.
Roman Reigns had been absent from WWE programming since then and the former champion made his return to WWE after 4 months during the SummerSlam PPV. He took out Solo Sikoa during the main event, helping Cody Rhodes defeat the self-proclaimed Tribal Chief.
The Big Dog has been feuding with Solo and his henchmen since then. Roman got the upper hand during the August 10 episode of SmackDown but a returning Jacob Fatu took him out during the August 17 episode of the show.
