John Cena is hoping that some UK dates will be involved in his retirement tour.
The Cenation Leader has announced that 2025 will be his last year in wrestling. He will be active throughout the year and wrestle all over the world. Once he hangs the boots, however, Cena will not return for another match and he will even retire his iconic jorts look.
The wrestling veteran recently had an interview with Shebahn Aherne of TalkSPORT to promote his new movie Jackpot which premieres on Prime Video on August 15.
Cena talked about his retirement tour during the interview. John said that he is hoping to wrestle in the UK during his final year as an active competitor:
“I really hope so. As you know, I’m retiring from in-ring performing next year and we’ll start in January and we’ll do our last match in December 2025. I really hope there are some UK dates involved in that farewell. I meant what I said, and I said the same thing in Canada, the UK and Canada have been such strong supporters of the WWE, through thick and thin.”
John Cena has been a vocal supporter of WrestleMania being held in London one day. WWE has already announced plans for WrestleMania 41 so Cena will not be able to compete if the city indeed gets a WrestleMania someday, but he promised to be there as a fan:
“I campaigned for WrestleMania to be located in London because I think London has absolutely earned the right to host the Grandest Stage of Them All. Nick Khan and Triple H were just there talking to the mayor of London. Hopefully, I don’t know, things work out and maybe WrestleMania in London in the future. It’s not going to happen in 2025, so unfortunately, I won’t have a match there, but if it does, I will absolutely be there as a fan,”
The possibility of WrestleMania coming to London might not be as far-fetched as it has been in the past. WWE Executives Triple H and Nick Khan recently had a meeting with London’s mayor Sadiq Khan and it’s possible that the city will be getting a big WWE show in near future.
