Maria Kanellis has revealed her contract with All Elite Wrestling is expiring this month and the company has not responded to her communication about a potential new deal.
The former Knockouts Champion has been dealing with some health issues recently. Kanellis previously revealed on Twitter that she is set to undergo surgery due to a mass on her adrenal gland on October 24.
Maria provided an update on the preparation for her medical procedure in an Instagram video recently. She explained that she went through an ultrasound and genetic testing this week and has an appointment with her surgeon later in the week to discuss the plans for the surgery.
During the video, the female star also revealed that her contract with Tony Khan’s promotion is set to expire come October 31:
“My contract with AEW is coming up October 31st. I’ve reached out to them to find out whether or not they are going to be signing me, but I haven’t really heard anything yet, so of course that is weighing on me as well.”
Though Kanellis seems to be taking a positive approach through her ordeal. She mentioned in the video that she is focusing on things she can control and making plans for Halloween.
Maria Kanellis had multiple stints with Ring of Honor before Tony Khan purchased the company from Sinclair Broadcast Group in mid-2022.
She made her AEW debut in October 2022 alongside her husband Mike Bennett and Matt Taven. Maria was quietly moved back to the ROH brand in 2023, thus leaving The Kingdom.
Prior to her AEW signing, Kanellis worked for promotions such as WWE and TNA. If her contract is not renewed, the wrestling veteran also has the prospect of working as a coach for these companies.
