Mercedes Mone Advocates For Shane McMahon To Get AEW Run

Mercedes Mone is advocating for Shane McMahon to get an opportunity in AEW because of his incredible heart and passion for the sport.

The son of the former WWE owner has got people talking about a potential wrestling return after being spotted with AEW owner Tony Khan and company EVPs The Young Bucks in two separate airport sessions in the last few months.

The CEO talked about the potential of Shane and her becoming a co-workers again under the banner of All Elite Wrestling in her October 3 newsletter. She believes that McMahon has a lot of unfinished business in wrestling that he needs to take care of:

“Seeing Shane’s incredible heart and passion for wrestling makes me think he has a lot of unfinished business; it also makes me think is Shane coming to AEW? I’m here for it, and I’m sure our roster is too. Regardless, it just seems like Shane belongs in the wrestling business.”

Mercedes added her own experience to the conversation, reflecting back on the ankle injury that recently kept her out of action for almost 9 months between 2023 to 2024. She said that Shane must feel the same way on being kept away from the sport we all love:

“I admit if he doesn’t come back to wrestling, it will make me sad for him. I know what it’s like to be removed from what you love and how sad it made me. I imagine he feels the same way.”

Shane McMahon’s last wrestling appearance came at WrestleMania 39 in April 2023. He competed in an impromptu match against the Miz. The 54-year-old unfortunately could not finish the bout after tearing his quad muscle

With Vince McMahon being under public scrutiny amid the ongoing Janel Grant trial, it seems unlikely that the new WWE owners Endeavor would want to bring his son back to the promotion in any capacity. Tony Khan on the other hand, can send shock waves through the wrestling world by signing the son of the rival promoter.
