MVP has arrived in AEW.
The former WWE star had long been rumored to make the move ever since his contract with the Endeavour-owned promotion expired in August this year.
The latest Grand Slam special of Dynamite featured Prince Nana in a segment. Nana was asked about Swerve Strickland’s health and he confirmed that the former AEW champion was not cleared to compete yet.
Before the segment ended, however, MVP made an appearance. The former US champion addressed the wrestling manager and claimed that he was the reason for Strickland’s recent failures.
The newest AEW star then gave Nana a card to pass it along to Swerve. Eagle-eyed viewers noted that along with his name, the card also featured the name of Hurt Syndicate in it:
MVP and The Hurt Syndicate
MVP had been a central figure of WWE programming during the pandemic era. He was managing the Hurt Business, consisting of Bobby Lashley, Cedric Alexander, and Shelton Benjamin.
They were the dominant faction on WWE Raw during their time together. At one point all three members of The Hurt Business held gold in WWE.
The group was disbanded after the return of crowds. However many fans still believed that there was gas left in the tank for them and that the company could have done more with the faction.
MVP, Lashley, and Benjamin have all departed from the company since then. The former manager recently trademarked the name ‘Hurt Syndicate’ indicating that he was planning to reunite with his old partners with a new name outside of WWE.
The latest tease on Dynamite is a clear indication that the WWE alumni have found a new home in Tony Khan’s promotion. The interesting thing to see now would be how the company debuts the group on AEW programming.
