WWE’s partnership with TNA has flourished in recent weeks with both companies exchanging talent for appearances and Nick Aldis for one is happy to see this change.
The promotion formally owned by Vince McMahon has been shy to acknowledge the existence of other companies in the past. This has changed under the leadership of Triple H however, and WWE has recently partnered up with promotions such as Marigold and NOAH to send their talents over.
The partnership with TNA is another example of the policy change and we have seen talents such as Jordynne Grace, Joe Hendry, and Frankie Kazarian making appearances on NXT.
The current SmackDown General Manager discussed WWE’s relationship with TNA during an appearance on the Gorilla Position podcast. Aldis said that he feels good about it:
“I feel good about it. I don’t know much about it, truthfully, so I can’t speak too much to it. I thought Jordynne Grace put in a tremendous performance. She’s probably a lot of the driving force behind the whole relationship because once you have a talent like that, a promoter, which Hunter and Shawn are, they are looking at it like, ‘I don’t care how we have to get it done, I want that person on my TV show.’ A lot of times, that’s the genesis of a lot of working relationships.”
Nick Aldis discussed how there are many current WWE talents such as AJ Styles and LA Knight who have history in TNA. With the flourishing partnership, the company is able to acknowledge their past accomplishments:
“What we’re looking at now, and as we’ve moved into the digital age, people want the full story. The idea of ‘everything you did before here doesn’t exist,’ has faded away because people say, ‘It’s more fun to know about other things,’ and planting seeds. The ability to dive into that and enhance stories would be beneficial and a major shift in WWE going forward.”
Nick Aldis himself is a TNA veteran. Competing under the ring name of Magnus, Aldis was a featured star of the promotion from 2008 to 2015 and he even had a run with the TNA World Title during his time there.
