Penta El Zero Miedo Confirms That He Is Still Under AEW Contract

AEW star Penta El Zero Miedo has confirmed that the rumors of him signing a contract with WWE is not true because he remains under contract with Tony Khan’s promotion.

The Mexican star recently spoke to Mas Lucha. Amid all the commotion about him and his brother Rey Fenix leaving their current home to join the Endeavor-owned promotion, Penta was asked about his current status.

The former Impact World Champion has not wrestled inside an AEW ring since the July 17 episode of Rampage. Speaking about Khan deciding not to use him for shows, Penta said that the AEW owner is just protecting his own interests:

“It’s like I was saying, everyone defends their interests. Tony is defending his interests and we are defending our own. I’ll say this, I am still under contract with AEW, that is my present. I have not thought about my future because I prefer to think about my here and now, and my now is AEW.”

The 39-year-old said that it’s up to AEW if they want to use him or not. If they do call him up for a bout, however, Penta will respond with the same enthusiasm that he has always had:

“We will see what happens in future months, but I am still in AEW and I cannot even think about talking to another company because that is not of my involvement. My legal team, lawyers and that stuff will handle everything relating to contracts and the like, but my job is inside that ring and with the fans.”

The former Lucha Underground star stressed again that his present is with AEW. He also suggested that the rumored WWE move is not a done deal, saying that he doesn’t know what will happen in the future.

Penta El Zero Miedo signed with AEW back in 2019. Assuming he signed a standard 5-year deal, his contract should be coming up in a few months.

Things for his brother Rey Fenix are more complicated. Tony Khan can add time to his contract for the period he has missed due to injury meaning that his deal can be extended by up to a year if the officials decide.
