AEW personality Taz has revealed that he will be getting total knee replacement surgery which will keep him away from TV for a while.

The 56-year-old took to Twitter earlier today to reveal this info to his fans. He said that he’ll provide further updates on his health down the road:

“Unfortunately, I will be out for a while. I’ll be having total knee replacement surgery very soon. Talk to you guys down the road.”

The ECW original has already been written off TV for the purpose of medical treatment. The company announced during the October 2 episode of Dynamite that Taz would be missing time after being attacked in the parking lot before the show.

Taz In AEW

Taz, originally known as Tazmaniac had a lengthy career as an active competitor before moving to non-wrestling roles in the industry. During his active years between 1987 to 2006, the heavyweight star competed for promotions such as ECW, WCW, and WWE.

After retiring from wrestling, Taz started working as a manager and color commentator. He started his commentary career in WWE and his first client was Samoa Joe in TNA.

The former ECW champion made a number of appearances for AEW in 2019. Taz was then signed to a contract in early 2020 and he has been regular on AEW programming ever since.

Taz’s son Hook is also a part of the company’s roster. The second-generation star made his in-ring debut in December 2021 during an episode of Rampage and he has been wrestling for the promotion ever since.
