Triple H On What It Means For Him To Be Part of John Cena’s Retirement Tour

Triple H says crafting the retirement tour for John Cena is a huge honor for him.

The Cenation Leader has announced that 2025 will be his last year in wrestling. He will be active throughout the year and wrestle all over the world. Once he hangs the boots however, Cena will not return for another match and he will even retire his iconic jorts look.

WWE’s head booker Triple H was asked about John’s decision to retire during the SummerSlam 2024 Press Conference. The Game explained that the 16-time world champion has earned the right to do whatever he wants in his career:

“Look, John has earned the right in his career to do whatever he wants when he wants, and I’m happy to be there. For him, I believe it is the beginning of the year [when] John will come back, and it’s sort of like the farewell tour that has an end to it. John’s going to come back and just have a blast. Everywhere he goes, like he always does.”

Triple H Is Overwhelmed

Triple H explained why the retirement tour is a good thing mentioning how a lot of wrestlers do not get the opportunity to craft their retirement as they like. He said that the opportunity to craft this tour for one of the greats is almost overwhelming for him:

“John paved the road for so much stuff. He’s earned the right, as I said, to call his out and so few people get the opportunity to do that. This is awesome. It’s almost overwhelming to me, that as this starts to become real, one, that it will be the end of his in-ring career. But, too, that I get to sit with him and craft it. It’s a huge honor for me.”

Triple H himself never got a retirement match. He moved to a part-time schedule after taking over NXT. He had to retire from in ring action after undergoing a heart procedure back in September 2021.
