WWE presented the SummerSlam follow up episode of WWE SmackDown from BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The show features the long-awaited return of Roman Reigns who has not been seen on weekly TV since WrestleMania among other things. Here are the highlights from the show:
- Cody Rhodes Promo: The Undisputed WWE Champion says he wants to talk about his Bash At The Berlin opponent. Solo Sikoa makes his way and demands a rematch for the title but Rhodes says he hasn’t earned one. The Bloodline surrounds the ring but Kevin Owens makes the save. When the Bloodline retreats, Cody offers the title shot to KO but Owens says he hasn’t earned the match.
- #1 Contenders Tournament Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship: A-Town Down Under vs. The Street Profits: B-Fab was at the ringside with Street Profits. Montez for delivered an Ocean Cyclone Suplex combo on Theory for the win.
- Backstage segment: Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes are still arguing in the presence of the SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis. Aldis reveals he is going to give the title shot to Roman Reigns. Owens becomes angry and says there are a lot of other deserving people in the locker room. Aldis then picks Kevin for the opportunity.
- Singles Match: Jade Cargill (w/ Bianca Belair) vs. Alba Fyre (w/ Isla Dawn): Jade Cargill picked up a quick win with Jaded. After the match, Blair Davenport attacked Cargill and Fyre and Dawn beat down Belair. Naomi made the save for the babyfaces.
- LA Knight Promo: Knight talks about winning the US Championship at SummerSlam. He is interrupted by Santos Escobar who says Knight doesn’t deserve to be a champion. LA Knight tells Escobar he deserves everything bad that’s coming to him. Andrade then makes his way to the ring as well.
- #1 Contenders Match for the United States Championship: Santos Escobar vs. Andrade: Carmelo Hayes interfered in the match and pulled Escobar out of a corner at Andrade was charging at him. Escobar then rolled up Andrade for the win.
- #1 Contenders Tournament Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship: DIY won the match after delivering a Meeting In The Middle on Elton Prince.
- Solo Sikoa Promo: Solo calls out Roman Reigns and the former Undisputed Champion comes out to confront him. Reigns takes out Tonga Loa and Tama Tonga outside of the ring. He then attacks Sikoa and delivers a superman punch. He looks for a spear but Tonga Loa and Tama Tonga pull Sikoa out of the ring. Roman picks up the lei dropped by Solo but Loa and Tonga attack him from behind. Tonga picks up the lei and stars at it for a second before giving it back to Solo. Roman Reigns gets back up and beats both of his cousins. Solo looks from outside at Reigns and hits Loa repeatedly with a steel chair while the show goes off-air.
