The latest SmackDown episode comes live from Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. The Greyson Waller Effect will be making a return on the show with the Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes as a special guest. Here are the highlights and results of the show:
- The Greyson Waller Effect: Greyson Waller stops Cody Rhodes’ entrance mid-way. He accuses Cody of being selfish. Rhodes then points to Austin Theory and questions if this is a real friendship or Waller is just using him. A video package shows everyone Kevin Owens has betrayed before KO comes out. He defends himself before calling out Nick Aldis and asking for a tag match featuring him & Cody vs. Waller and Theory. After Aldis grants the match, he asks if they have time to beat up the duo. Nick tells him to make it quick and then KO and Cody beat their opponents.
- US Championship Match: LA Knight vs Santos Escobar: Angel and Berto attack Knight before the match could begin. The referee ejects them from ringside. When Elektra Lopez gets into his face the ref ejects her too before the match finally begins. Towards the end, both competitors get to the top and Knight is able to push Escobar off the top. He lands an elbow drop and follows it up with a BFT for the win and to retain the title.
- Barber Shop Segment: Carmelo Hayes sends a message to Andrade. Andrade walks in and both engage in a verbal confrontation.
- 6 Women Tag Match: The Unholy Union vs. Jade Cargill, Naomi, and Bianca Belair: Blair Davenport tries to roll Naomi up but she counters with an enzuigiri. She follows it up with a split legged moonsault for the win.
- The Bloodline Promo: Solo Sikoa declares that he will be going after the winner of Kevin Owens vs Cody Rhodes at Bash In Berlin. He talks about Roman Reigns before Solo asks Jacob Fatu to step forward. Sikoa demands Fatu to give his Tag Team Championship belt to Tonga Loa. He explains that Fatu can’t be a tag champ if he is going to be the enforcer of Sikoa. Solo then hugs Fatu. The Street Profits interrupt the segment and cut a promo before their match.
- WWE Tag Team Championship Match: Tonga Loa & Tama Tonga vs. Street Profits: Solo Sikoa distracted the referee allowing Tonga to win the match with a flatliner on Dawkins. The Bloodline continues attacking Profits. DIY tries to make the save but they fail. Solo Sikoa delivers the Samoan Spike to Johnny Gargano. Fatu then grabs the lei and puts it around Solo’s neck. The segment ends with the Bloodline standing tall.
- Tag Team Match: Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens vs. A-Town Down Under: Owens won the match with a Pop Up Powerbomb on Waller for the win. As Cody is looking at Waller and Theory, Owens grabs the WWE title belt and it looks like he is going to attack Rhodes. He ends up giving the belt back to Cody to end the show.
