Candice LeRae has been crowned the inaugural WWE Women’s Speed Champion after defeating IYO SKY in the finals of the Speed tournament.

The former NXT star beat Kairi Sane in the semi-finals of the tournament while SKY advanced to the final match after defeating Naomi. The two women finally met at the latest episode of the X exclusive show this Wednesday on October 9.

SKY took control early in the bout with an outside dive and she then hit LeRae with a backbreaker. Candice fought back with some kicks and a senton however as both women continued the struggle.

In the end, Indie Hartwell came out to try and help LaRae win the match. While IYO SKY managed to take down Hartwell with a kick off the apron, the distraction allowed her opponent to take advantage. Candice finally hit a springboard moonsault and pinned SKY to become the new champion:

This is Candice LeRae’s first singles title in WWE since signing with the company in 2017. She previously won the NXT tag team championships with Indie Hartwell back in May 2021.

WWE Speed

WWE partnered up with social media platform X in April 2024 to launch the concept of Speed. The show airs exclusively on the social site, with matches that have a time limit of 5 minutes.

A tournament to crown the inaugural WWE Speed Champion ran from April 3 to May 3. Ricochet defeated Johnny Gargano to become the first-ever Speed Champion in the finals.

Andrade is the current WWE Speed Champion on the men’s side. He won the belt during the June 14 episode of the show. Ricochet, on the other hand, has since left WWE and joined AEW.
