Jon Moxley has become the new AEW World Heavyweight Champion after defeating Bryan Danielson at the WrestleDream PPV.

The friends turned foes competed in a grueling match at the October 12 event. This came after Moxley turned on his BCC teammate at the All Out pay-per-view last month.

Bryan hit a couple of Busaiku Knee on Moxley towards the end of the bout but Jon kicked out. When Danielson went for a third one, Mox countered and hit the AEW Champion with a piledriver. He then locked him up into a sleeper hold and the referee called for the bell as Bryan faded away.

Marina Shafir, Claudio Castagnoli and Pac joined Jon Moxley in the ring as Justin Roberts announced him as the new World Heavyweight Champion. Mox put the world title in a bag. He then brought out a plastic bag and looked to repeat the events from All Out.

Wheeler Yuta Turns On Bryan Danielson

Wheeler Yuta and Darby Allin came to Bryan’s rescue before he could do so. Yuta checked on Bryan in the corner while Darby stood face-to-face with the new AEW champion. As Allin turned back, however, he faced a running knee from Yuta.

The group secured Darby Allin to one of the ring corners with some tape and Moxley handed the plastic bag to Wheeler Yuta. An emotional Yuta choked Bryan out with the bag. Private Party and Jeff Jarrett came out one after another to try and help Bryan but Moxley took them out.

Claudio Castagnoli then brought a chair into the ring and placed it around Bryan Danielson’s neck. On the signal from Mox, he delivered a brutal stomp to Danielson.

A number of babyfaces including Daniel Garcia, Mark Briscoe, Orange Cassidy and HOOK all ran down to the ring after these shocking events as Jon Moxley and his teammates retreated. The show went off air with the medical team carefully putting Bryan into a stretcher as Cassidy and Hook looked on from ringside in disbelief.
