The Motor City Machine Guns have finally made their WWE debuts and put the whole tag team division on notice.
The legendary tag team became free agents in April this year when their TNA contracts expired. WWE started teasing their arrival with mystery vignettes a couple of weeks ago.
The company then posted a video of Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin signing a contract with General Manager Nick Alids before this week’s SmackDown. This was followed up by the duo officially making their debut for the Blue Brand during the October 18 episode of the show:
The Guns took on A-Town Down Under and Los Garza in a triple-threat match. It was a semi-final match of the ongoing Tag Team Championships #1 Contenders Tournament.
The duo brought in the high-flying action as expected. In the end, they delivered a Frog Splash-neckbreaker combination on Berto for the win.
Elsewhere in the show, we saw DIY winning the other semi-final by defeating Street Profits and Pretty Deadly. Both Montez Ford and Tommaso Ciampa got the pin simultaneously on one member of Pretty Deadly each. DIY was declared the winner as Ciampa was the legal man.
WWE has already announced that DIY and MCMGs will meet in the finals of the ongoing tournament at next week’s SmackDown. The winner would challenge The Bloodline for the Tag Team Championships at the Crown Jewel special on November 2.
